Irene A. Raczynski, aged 95, of Center Line, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 16, 1927, to her late parents, Leo and Anna Lagodzinski.
Irene was the beloved wife of the late Ralph; cherished mother of Mary Ann (Doug) Evans and Barbara (Ron) Toboy; dear grandmother to 6 and a loving great-grandmother (Busia) to 10; sister of the late Raymond (Josephine) Lagodzinski, the late Joseph Lagodzinski, and the late Daniel (Judy) Lagodzinski; and sister-in-law to Connie Lagodzinski.
Irene lived a remarkable and active life, making significant contributions to her community and cherishing her family. Her involvement in various organizations and her dedication to St. Clement Catholic Church (since 1958) highlight her commitment to service. Irene's roles as a Eucharistic minister, member of the St. Clement Rosary Altar Society, and her volunteer work at Father Murray Nursing Home reflect her deep faith and compassion for others.
Her role as the director of Rzeszow Dancers/Alliance of Poles #174 and her involvement in creating and hand beading costumes demonstrate her passion for preserving and celebrating Polish culture and heritage. As a proud member and trustee of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America (PRCUA) Pope John Paul II Society she contributed to the promotion of Polish heritage and traditions.
Irene was also a trustee of the Central Citizens Committee and she was awarded the Pulaski Medal for her dedication to the Polish American community.
Her membership in the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary further exemplify her commitment to her faith and community.
Beyond her community involvement, Irene's love for baking, especially her Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, showcased her culinary talents and her ability to create delicious treats for her loved ones. Her pride in her family's accomplishments allowed her to travel to various places in Michigan (Frankenmuth, Indian River, Posen). She also enjoyed traveling to Chicago with her daughter Barbara and her family.
Irene's life was filled with purpose, love, and a commitment to making a positive impact on those around her. She will be remembered and cherished for her contributions and the love she shared with her family and community.
A visitation for Irene will be held Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, at D.S. Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, Michigan 48093.
Irene will lie in state from 9:30 AM until time of funeral mass at 10:00 AM Monday, September 11, 2023 at St. Mary, Our Lady Queen of Families- St. Clement Site, 25320 Van Dyke Avenue, Center Line, Michigan 48015. Burial will follow at St. Clement Cemetery in Center Line, MI.
Memorials may be made to the Capuchin Fathers.
