Fred Laurel Ristau, age 86 of Warren, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at Bortz Health Care in Warren, Michigan. He was born August 25, 1924 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, the son of the late Fritz Carl Ristau and the late Gladys (nee: Raymond) Ristau. Fred served 3 1/2 years as a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired in 1986 from the Detroit News. Fred had a love for the outdoorshe was an avid golfer and loved driving his pontoon boat on Houghton Lake. He was an easy going man who enjoyed life to the fullest. Many said he was a people person and loved to sing. For many years, he enjoyed performing with his fellow choirmates in the Lutheran Choral Aires. His beautiful smile and sense of humor will long be remembered. Fred will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was the beloved husband of 55 1/2 years to Mae (nee: Granustadt). Dearest father of Mark (Susan), Brian (Sandy), and Laurel Henderson. Loving grandfather of Michael, Erik, Bradley, and Justin. A Memorial Service will be held on February 12th, 2011 at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warren. Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S.
