Edward Arthur Richard Thomas III, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was 67 years old.
Born on May 15, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, to Edward Arthur Richard Thomas II and Mary Josephine (née Lehner) Thomas, Edward was the middle of three children and the only son. From an early age, he displayed a natural warmth and charisma that endeared him to everyone he met.
In 1974, Edward met Theresa Hood through a mutual friend, and it was love at first sight. Their bond grew deeper with each passing year, and they married on July 2, 1994. Together, they shared a loving and fulfilling life, celebrating thirty wonderful years of marriage this past summer. Edward was not only a devoted husband but also a proud brother, and uncle who cherished his family above all else. His love for them knew no bounds, and he was always eager to spend time with those he held most dear.
He was also a man of many passions. He had a profound love for music and was particularly fond of playing the drums, an art form that allowed him to express himself in ways words could not. Music was more than just a hobby—it was a source of joy and peace for him throughout his life. He also loved the outdoors, especially fishing, where he found comfort in the quiet moments spent by the water.
An avid participant in daily rituals, Edward played the lottery every day, embracing the excitement and uncertainty that it brought him. But more than the thrill of chance, he found joy in the small moments, always ready with a smile and a kind word for anyone who needed it.
Ed was a devoted Catholic and a long-time member of St. Mary, Our Lady Queen of Families. His faith provided him with comfort and strength throughout his life, and he found great solace in knowing that God was by his side, guiding him through every challenge.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Theresa Thomas; his sisters Jacqueline (Chris) Kreschmer, and Doreen (Gary) Aman; nephews Adam Aman, and Brandon Aman; niece Krystin (Jimmy) Frejat; and great-niece Camilla; who will carry forward his legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering love. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Sammy, his best friend and companion. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Thomas II and Mary Thomas.
Visitation for Ed will take place on Monday, November 11, 2024 between 2:00 and 8:00 pm at D.S. Temrowski & Sons, located at 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, Michigan 48093. A rosary service will take place on Monday night at 6:00 pm, also at the funeral home.
Ed will lie instate on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 beginning at 9:30 am until the time of mass at 10:00 am at St. Mary, Our Lady Queen of Families, located at 8075 Ritter Street, Center Line, Michigan 48015.
Donations in Ed's honor may be made to St. Mary, Our Lady Queen of Families.
Edward’s passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the memories of his family, his music, and his unshakeable faith. May he rest in peace, forever in the arms of God.
