Edward L. Oleksiak, 91, died Friday, May 18, 2007, in Autumn Woods Nursing Home, Warren. He was born May 12, 1916, in Hamtramck. Mr. Oleksiak retired from the Hamtramck Fire Department in 1965. He was the first court officer of the 37th district court in Warren. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the American Polish Century Club. He was past commander of the PLAV Post 10, Hamtramck and the American Legion Post 155 Hamtramck. He was a member of the Metropolitan Club, Hamtramck, Knights of Columbus Cardinal Mercer Council, John W. Smith Oldtimers Club, Hamtramck Public Service Retirees Association, Polish National Alliance, Olympic Group 2313, VFW Post 4404 and many other various charitable organizations. He is survived by his children, Ronald W. Oleksiak and Valeria R. Wilkinson; grandchildren, Michelle and Wendy and great-grandchildren, Alexa. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Rose Oleksiak and parents, Stanley and Pauline. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Tuesday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Warren. Visitation is 5-9pm Sunday and 2-9pm Monday, with a 7:30pm Rosary Recital at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile Road), Warren. Additional visitation is 10-10:30am Tuesday at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John W. Smith Oldtimers Club
