Edward John Bach Jr., age 96, of Warren, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. He was born on February 28, 1928, in Detroit, son of the late Edward Sr. and the late Irene (Gwizdala) Bach.
Edward was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose generosity, humor, and unwavering faith touched the lives of everyone he met. He devoted his life to his family. He lovingly cared for his wife, Theresa, spending every day with her in the nursing home until she was called to God, and embraced every moment with his children and grandchildren. He loved to sing and had a “tune” to teach his children things they needed to remember. Edward’s heart was always open, whether it was lending a helping hand, offering sage advice, or sharing a well-timed joke. He always had a great comeback, even up to his last days on Earth. His quick wit and infectious laughter made him a joy to be around, and his motto, "Silence is golden. Speak up when needed," reflected his thoughtful and balanced approach to life.
Edward's commitment to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a devout Catholic who found solace and strength in daily prayers, the rosary, and the Divine Mercy chaplet. His deep devotion extended to his love for the Blessed Mary and his consistent reminder of the importance of confession, Mass, and communion. Edward was so deep in his faith as a young man that he wanted to become a priest, but his parents would not allow it.
In his professional life, Edward was known for his hard work and fairness, particularly as a boss to some of his own children. His strong work ethic was matched by his adventurous spirit; he embraced challenges from white-water rafting to working on tall buildings in Detroit as a young man. Edward also exhibited great courageousness when he answered the call to serve his nation with the Army during the Korean Conflict. Yet, it was his passion for simpler joys—fishing, bowling, playing pinochle and the board game HORSES with his family (which is still played to this day), and rooting for his favorite football teams, the Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame, and the Lions—that truly defined him.
Edward's dedication to his family was matched by his love for children. His energy and playfulness were legendary, whether he was running around with his grandkids or swimming with them all with a smile on his face and a good laugh. His spirit of adventure and fun never waned, even in his later years.
Edward faced life's trials with courage and a profound sense of acceptance, seeing his sufferings as a way to participate in the sufferings of Jesus and offer them up to God. His peaceful demeanor and desire for family harmony made him a pillar of strength and a beacon of love for all who knew him.
Edward's legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for the joy and light he brought into our lives.
The family of Edward would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Heart to Heart In/patient Hospice Care in Troy for their devoted and compassionate care of their dad since last December.
Edward was the beloved husband of the late Theresa. Dear father of Irene (Pat) Morrison, Carol (Mike) Catrinar, Diane Barkley, Theresa (Joe) Tringali, Michael (Debbie) Bach, and Marie (John) Vardon. Loving grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 18. Cherished brother of the late Constance Skowronek.
