Don loved his wife immensely. He would take her on vacations of her choice. When their children were younger, they would camp in either Myrtle Beach or Disney World, but Don always had a side short educational trip included, which enforced his passion for learning and teaching. Don and Gen planned an epic 5-week camping trip out west which showcased their love for family memories. At one point they traded in the camper for various boats and enjoyed the boating life with extended family and friends. Later in life, they would take annual bus trips to Florida and travel with a wonderful group of friends. Their travels also included Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, China, and many countries in Europe. When Gen and Don were on tours, they were usually the last ones on the bus, she would be buying last minute items, and he would have to carry them for her. Don’s final trip was to Disney World in 2022 with most of his children, their spouses, and grandchildren. Papa Don created many magical memories for his grandchildren.
The University of Michigan Wolverine’s football and basketball teams were a passion of his. Don attended many home football games, a few away and even a Rose Bowl to cheer Michigan on to a National Championship.
Don was proud of his service in the Army, earning several commendations. He was proud of his catholic upbringing; religion was what brought Don and Genevieve together along with their love to Polka. Watching them dance together was magical, always.
Don’s work career as a computer systems analyst/integrator included GM, EDS, and Chrysler.
Don’s legacy lives on through the memories he created and the lives of those he touched.
