Dolores Ann Adamczyk, age 78 of Warren, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. She was born on May 16, 1935 in Luzerne, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late John and the late Veronica (nee: Ondish) Kowatch. While spending the lion share of her early years growing up in Hamtramck, it was in that fair city that Dolores attended Hamtramck High School and graduated as part of the Class of '53. Four years later, the man of her dreams would sweep Dolores off her feet and right down the aisle as the two became one in their marriage ceremony on April 27, 1957. In 1960, Henry and Dolores pulled up roots and headed to their new home in the growing and ever-expanding city of Warren. It was there that they settled in and planted new roots that eventually grew and matured into a warm & wonderful home and family unit. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Dolores was also revered for being a devout woman of God. Her faith was very important, and a daily guidepost throughout her journey in life. For many years, she called St. Sylvester's her church home,…and eventually made the fateful transition to her new home, St. Faustina Catholic Church in Warren. Her years at St. Sylvester were speckled with countless blessings and memories of the work she shared as a member of the St. Sylvester Women's Club. It was a strong and faithful group of ladies that played a huge part in addressing many of the churches needs,…something for which just came naturally for Dolores. Yet, for as much love as Dolores doled out, it came back to her manifold through the host of treasured family and friends that enveloped her life. Some of the fondest of those memories were the precious summer vacations spent with her loved ones in the beautiful & scenic splendor of Traverse City. And there was always a great time to be had with her fellow seniors whenever they headed out of the infamous bus trips. Another of her favorite travel ventures were the ones that ended up at the casino. Nothin' said "fun" like challenging Ol' Lady Luck on one of those one-armed bandits,…especially when the jackpot bells went off. For a little TV pleasure, Dolores had become quite fond of the late-night host, Jimmy Fallon. Yet she was even more drawn to her love of movies. A movie buff extraordinaire, she enjoyed countless hours soaking up many of the classics fro the silver screen. And movies were nevermore treasured than the many Saturday night's she spent sharing them with loved ones at her son, Ken's house. Family around the TV…a good movie on the screen…that was Dolores' definition of "Livin' Large!"Everyone who truly knew Dolores can attest to just how much she loved to party. It was all about getting people together to have some fun, make some memories, and leave a little richer in spirit than before you arrived,…and Dolores knew how to make those memories special. And speaking of parties, Dolores was also an integral part of planning and organizing her High School Class Reunions,…a practice and involvement that spanned almost 60 years. And lastly, there's an old adage that states; "when you're eating, you're happy,"…and Dolores did everything she could to live a hilarious life. From her regular breakfasts at the Opa Grill in Warren, to the many lunches shared with friends over the years, or a simple dessert with a cup of coffee,…food, friendship and fellowship made for a perfect recipe of happiness. Dolores leaves a legacy of love for many to cherish who were blessed to know her. She touched a multitude of hearts and souls along the way with her kindness and caring spirit,…and nobody more than her beloved, Henry. Together, they spent many years building a home and nurturing the love within,…and now she's left to join him in their Mansion in the Sky. I wonder if they show any great movies up there? Dolores was the beloved wife of the late Henry. Dear mother of Kenneth (Traci) Adamczyk and David Adamczyk. Loving grandmother of Kristin, Alicia, DJ, Stephanie, and Lukas. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Dolores will be held on Friday, March 7th from 3-9pm, with a 6:15pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. She will lie in state on Saturday from 8:30am until time of the Funeral Mass at 9am at St. Faustina Catholic Church in Warren. Please share memories of Dolores at her memory book.
