Rev. David Mosley, age 56, passed away from this life on April 22, 2012 at his home in St. Clair Shores, after a 3-year battle with colon cancer. The son of the late Samuel Mosley and Anne Browning Mosley, he grew up in the Elm Street Baptist Church where he was the president of the youth group and was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 1984. After attending college and seminary in Kentucky, he was a Baptist Pastor for nearly 25 years in Indiana, retiring in 2006. He was the youth and music director from 1982 to 1983 and pastor of Coffee Creek Baptist Church in Paris Crossing from 1983 to 1989. While at Coffee Creek he served as Moderator of the Coffee Creek Association, President of the Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Paris Crossing Community Center Board. During his years in Centerville, David was very involved in his community. He served as President of the Centerville Ministerial Alliance; as Spiritual Director of both the Richmond Area Emmaus and Chrysalis Communities; in numerous leadership positions in Pack 16, Troop 16, and the Old Trail District of the Boy Scouts; as Chess Coach for Centerville Jr. and Sr. High School; as Inspector for Centerville Precinct 2; and as a member of the Centerville Town Council and Storm Water Board. The Centerville Lions Club recognized him for his Outstanding Community Service in 1998.Since his retirement David moved to Michigan and worked part time at the Somerset Inn in Troy, Michigan as a night auditor. He attended Bethel Baptist Church in St. Clair Shores.David leaves behind his wife, Julie Ann Torrens of St. Clair Shores; two sons, Michael Mosley of Oxnard California and Timothy Mosley of Warren, Ohio; a step-son, Andrew Vorce of St. Clair Shores, a brother, Dana Mosley of Davenport, Florida; an uncle, Freeman Browning Jr. of Carson, VA; six aunts, Sandra Browning and Irene Trogdon of Carson, Helen Wilkerson of Keysville, Ruth Thompson of Dinwiddie, Amy Sigmon and Kelli Howell of Tennesee; and several cousins in Virginia and Texas.Visitation for David Mosley will be on Tuesday April 24, 2012 from 4:00pm, until the time of his funeral services at 6pm at the D.S. Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ' Mile Road). Dr. Robert Cosand of Bethel Baptist in St. Clair Shores will be officiating the Funeral Services in Michigan. A second service will be held on Friday in his hometown of Petersburg, Virginia. Visitation will be from 6pm-8:30pm on Thursday at the Alvin E. Small Funeral Home in Petersburg. The funeral service will be held Friday at 11am, with Rev. Martin Dorgan and Rev. Barry Ginn officiating.
