Cary Donald Towne

Cary Donald Towne, age 75, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 6, 1949 to parents Charles and Carol (nee Opie) Towne in Detroit, Michigan.

Cary D. Towne was the beloved husband of Cheryl Chalou for nearly twenty years. Dear father of Angela (Neal) Shifflett, Christopher Towne, Laura Towne, and step-father of Ronald Chalou (Jenifer Bogues), Brian (Kimberly) Chalou, and Danielle (Dan) Gorney. Cherished grandfather of Jacob (Chelsea) Broughman, Shane Broughman, Joshua Broughman, Kara Shifflett, Michael (Mikey) Towne, Cory Chalou, Chelsea (Zach) Sanday, Gavin Chalou, Joshua De Bolt, Samantha Gorney, and Patrick Gorney. Proud great-grandfather of Charlotte and Rowen. Brother of Charles (Melanie) Towne, Christopher Towne, Craig Towne, Carol (Rick) Coughlin, Carl (Angie) Towne, Colleen Randazzo, Clark Towne, Curt (Nora) Towne, Cindy (Wayne) Donaldson, and brother-in-law of Ronald Engel, Barbara (Wayne) Yancy, and Ellen Matlock. Adored uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Charles Towne; his brothers Charles, Christopher, Craig, and Clark Towne; son, Christopher Towne; grandsons, Joshua Shifflett and Michael Towne; and step-son Ronald Chalou.

Cary will be both sadly missed and fondly remembered by many family members and friends.

He was a great mentor, especially with the children, and storyteller. He loved to talk to people. Wherever he went, he would strike up a conversation with someone.

He loved his home on the lake and truly enjoyed the peacefulness and serenity.

God bless you, Cary. You are freed from your illness and resting in peace.

Visitation for Cary will take place on Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, located at 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, Michigan 48093. Military Honors will take place promptly at 6:30 pm, also located at the funeral home.
