Carol Elaine Rice

Carol "Elaine" Rice, age 68, died Sunday September 10, 2017 at her home in Warren surrounded by her loving family. Carol Elaine Franklin was born March 21, 1949 in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Lonnie Allen Franklin and the late Bertha Evelyn (nee: Smith) Franklin. Known to her family and friends as "Elaine"... she was raised in Kentucky and attended Boyd County High School until she was swept off her feet by a young man named John Rice.Elaine and John were married when Elaine was 16 years old,...of course, with the blessing of Elaine's mother and father. The young couple would eventually move north to Michigan where John found employment with Chrysler Motors. John and Elaine settled in Warren, Michigan and raised two children.Elaine was always a hard worker and also a great homemaker. She tended to her children and home in addition to working first as a nurse's aide and later as the housekeeping supervisor for area nursing homes. Later she worked within the plastics industry as an assembler and wiring technician.Time away from work was usually spent with family and grandchildren. Elaine never forgot about her beloved Kentucky upbringing. She and her family enjoyed RV camping, and the many family celebrations including the holidays spent together. Quiet time at home would find Elaine solving word search puzzles, knitting, crocheting, sewing or cooking up a wonderful meal. Elaine also loved tending to her many flowers in the yard.Carol Elaine Rice was the beloved wife of John W. Rice, and loving mother of Jeffrey Rice and Christa (Michael) Morgan. She was the cherished grandmother of Scott, Alisia, and Anna. Elaine was also the dear sister of Charles "Kevin" Franklin, Cynthia "Coleen" Franklin, and the late Deborah Ann Hutchinson. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan. Please share memories of Elaine at her memory book above.
