Carl E. Swanson, age 85 a resident of Warren for over 47 years, died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at St. John Macomb Hospital Center in Warren. Carl was born March 14, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Elmer Swanson and the late Elsa Swanson. Carl was raised in Detroit and graduated from the Creative Studies Institute of Detroit. Carl served his country during World War II as a corpsman, in the United States Navy, and then worked for over 20 years as a commercial artist for Hemsing Advertising. When Carl was not working he enjoyed sports... playing baseball and golf or staying home to watch a University of Michigan football game. Carl was an easy-going, laid back man with a wry sense of humor. His family's well being was his first priority. When his wife became ill he would become her primary caregiver, refusing to send her to a nursing facility. Also watching his children become educated and go on to become successful adults. He loved his family and cherished his grandson. Carl is survived by his loving children, Neil Swanson, Craig (Sue) Swanson, and Kara Swanson. He is also the proud grandfather of Charlie Swanson, and dear brother of Joanie (Jim) Eliopoulas. Carl was predeceased by his beloved wife Donna, and also his brother Robert Swanson. Visitation for Carl will be Wednesday from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 mile). Funeral Services will be Thursday 11 am at the funeral home.
