Born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Carl Joseph Smith Sr. and the late Joan Smith (née Weigand).
He was the beloved husband of Carol Alford-Smith, whom he married on January 25, 2012. A devoted father, Skip leaves behind Kristine (Rick Dean) Chalou, Brian (Kimberly) Smith, and Carl (Katarzyna) Smith III. He was a proud papa to Chelsea (Zach) Sanday, Cory Chalou, Reiken Smith, and Audrina Smith, and a cherished great-grandpa to Rowen Sanday.
Skip was also a dear brother to Carla (Calvin) Rocker, Linda (the late Robert) Balester, Gwen (Jim) Randazzo, Cindy (Mark) Weigand, Denise Smith, Joseph (Susan) Smith, and the late Annette Poma. He will be fondly remembered by many loving extended family members and friends.
A lifelong fan of Detroit sports—especially the Detroit Tigers—Skip had a playful spirit and a sweet tooth for Twinkies. He loved traveling, with Las Vegas holding a special place in his heart for its shows and casinos. Always ready for an adventure, his travel bag was packed and ready at a moment’s notice. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his precious family.
He will be truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
