Crystal Blu Gopher of Wapato, 30, was called home by our Lord on Friday, November 16, 2012. She was born in Yakima to Brenda Gopher and Lupe Gonzales on March 19, 1982. Crystal was a direct descendent of the Blackfeet Nation and of Chief Rocky Boy of the Ojibwa.
Crystal was raised in Wapato and was very proud of her Native American heritage. Her dream was to become an enrolled member of the Blackfeet or Chippewa Cree Nations. Sadly she did not live to see her dream become a reality. Her favorite time was spent with her family and friends, she loved music, traveling, and spending time in the great outdoors. She was a free spirit and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Crystal is survived by her mother Brenda Gopher (step-father Tony Espinoza) and father Lupe “Blue” Gonzales; children Gionna, John Jr., Cedro, and Lilandro; brothers Rudy, Joe, Eli, and Mike; sisters Selena, Kelly, Rosie, Hazel, Tina, Summer, and Lorray; aunts Leona, Josephine, Ernestine, Andrea, and Linda Gopher; uncles Mike, Clarence, Kenneth, Tony, and Frank; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and all other family members throughout the United States and Canada.
Crystal was preceded in death by one brother; sister Victoria Gopher; maternal grandparents Pete Gopher and Mary Lorraine Gopher; nieces Elmina Eagleman-Pete and Clarissa Lorraine Smith; great-grandparents Jim Loud Thunder-Gopher and Mary Chippewa-Gopher; uncle Pete Gopher Jr; and aunts Jane and Sally Gopher.
An Overnight Service will be held at The Church on the Rock in Wapato with a Funeral Service on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at noon. Burial Service will follow at the Union Gap Cemetery.
Merritt Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
