Alejandro “Aleks” Cabrera, 30 of Wapato passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 13, 2011 in Toppenish, WA. Aleks was born to Maria and Lorenzo “Chino” Cabrera on March 7, 1981 in Toppenish, WA. He was raised in Wapato, where he received his education and met his wonderful wife of 15 years, Priscilla Enriquez. Aleks has been a part of the Cement Mason local Union 528 for the past 3 1/2 years. He took pride in being a cement mason, a skill that Aleks had mastered. He always had a smile from ear to ear and was open and trusting to everyone he knew. He constantly put the needs of everyone before himself, with having a weakness of saying no.
Aleks loved spending time with his family and friends. Aleks adored his children, he was always there for their sporting events, he helped them with their homework and was even a friend to them when they needed someone to listen to them. Aleks did everything for his children, wife, parents, siblings and friends. He had an amazing charisma that drew people to him; with his smile, generosity and sarcastic sense of humor he leaves special memories in the lives of many people.
Aleks is survived by his wife Priscilla; his two daughters, Rosamaria Alejandra Cabrera and Yesenia Alejandra Cabrera; two sons, Alejandro Prisciliano Cabrera and Ricardo Amado Cabrera; his parents, Maria and Lorenzo “Chino” Cabrera of Wapato; three brothers, Rogelio (Elvia) Cabrera, and Miguel Angel Cabrera both of California and Christian (Angelina) Cabrera of Yakima; one sister, Veronica (Saul) Guizar of Wapato; two adopted brothers, Alexander (Melissa) Garcia of Seattle and Jose (Jackie) Marquez of Wapato; nine nieces, Brenda, Joselyn, Karla , Sophia, Lydia, Araceli, Natalie, Mireya, Sofia; seven nephews, Lorenzo, Carlos, Christian Jr., Brandon, Yandell, Alexander and Gerardo; his in laws, Loren and Carmen Barrientos; brother in law, Jerry (Aida) Enriquez; along with numerous cousins and close family friends who were all blessed to have him in their lives. He is preceded in death by his younger brother Ricardo Cabrera, his maternal grandmother Maria Elena Morales, paternal grandparents Julia Cardenas and Benito Cabrera.
Friends and family are invited to attend the Viewing which will be from noon to 4:30 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato, with a Rosary beginning at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Saint Peter Claver Catholic Church in Wapato. Burial will follow at the Reservation Community Memorial Park all in Wapato. Merritt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
