Ken graduated from Bullis Prep School in 1950. Following prep school he joined the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He attended the University of Maryland for Business Administration. For almost 30 years he served as a Real Estate Professional and was one of the first real estate agents for the Pinefield Community. He was a charter member and a Deacon at the District Heights Presbyterian Church. Ken was a member of the American Legion Harry White Wilmer Post 82 in LaPlata, Maryland.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents William Joseph “Jody” and Alma “Polly” Bowie. He is survived by his loving Wife Carolyn of 58 years; Children Keith Bowie (Ellen), Kirk Bowie (Patricia), Kimberly Bean (Bernie), Karla Hersh (Robert) and Kristen Holmes (Allan); Brother Gary Keith Bowie, Sr. (Helen); 12 Grandchildren Tiffany, Zachary, Kyle, Timothy, Brittany, Matthew, John, Iain, Karl, Molly, Sam and Walker; and 3 Great Grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Huntt Funeral Home Waldorf, Maryland on Thursday March 6, 2014 from 2 to 4pm where the memorial service will begin at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at 1120 G Street NW, Suite 700 Washington D.C. 20005.
