Virt Lee Henderson, age 92, passed away peacefully on November 18th, 2023 due to natural causes. Virt Lee was born in Yazoo, Mississippi, July 9th 1931 to Willie Day Sr. and Martha Day-Davis. Virt Lee had eight brothers and sisters, Willie Day Jr., Amanda Petty, Marjorie Guest, Linnell (Joe) Day, Grant Day, Mary Bell Canada, Sylvia Batts (her only surviving sibling) : Elgie Day (her only surviving sister-in-law). Virt Lee was married to Adolph Henderson, this union was blessed with 3 children, Fredia

Brinson-Jackson, Virt Inez Henderson, and Adolph Henderson Jr. Virt Lee was married to Daniel Joseph Smith Sr., this union was blessed with 5 children, Marion Day-Carson and Lucille Smith (who preceded her in death), she leaves to cherish her memory: Daniel Joseph Smith Jr., Marsha Smith-Scott, Dwight Smith and Joann Phillips-O'Brien, her daughter from another mother: Daughter-in-law Patricia Smith and son-in-laws Tyrone Scott, and Arthur T. Brinson. Twenty-three Grandchildren: Michael Carson Jr., Michelle Carson, Walter Smith, Jamilla Scott/Linkins, Fatima Scott/Dorsey, Audrey Lesego Smith Walker, Christopher Adams, Kimberly Adams, Lawrence Smith, Monita Carson, Cyrstal Scott, Tyrone Scott Jr., Robert Scott, Stephen Smith, Danielle Smith, Daniel J. Smith, Bryant Jackson, Jessica Jackson, Vernity Henderson, Robert Henderson, Natasha Henderson, Maliah Henderson, and George Phillips: (31) 1/2 great Grandchildren, (15) great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and life long family friends.

Virt Lee was a hard working woman who had a passion for cooking. Early in her career she worked as a barmaid in St Louis, MO. Virt Lee moved her family to Washington DC in the early 60's. She was Co-owner of a cleaning service, started her career as a certified nurses assistant and a cook. Virt Lee was also co-own of the Carnival Night Club in Washington DC before moving to Los Angeles, CA. She resumed her career as a certified nurses assistant and private duty nurse for many years. She was finally able to retire and enjoy time with her family. Virt Lee moved back to the DMV in her golden years, she loved cooking for her family, friends and entertaining friends.
