Steven D. McGowan

Steve as he was known by family and friends was born March 27th 1952 in Washington DC to the late Mary Esther and John Patrick McGowan. Steve graduated from Potomac High School in 1970 and also attended Bowie State University. In 1978 Steve married JoAnn Marie McGowan née Palmer who he remained faithfully devoted to for 35 years.

Steve was a remarkable man. He was a loving husband, father, and brother to his first love of family. He was an avid golfer to his second love, the course, once even shooting a hole in one. He was a sports fan and an equestrian to his favorite horse "Nothing". He was hardworking in his field of construction, and later he was an entrepreneur achieving his dream of being a business owner. Steve was everything to the many who loved him, and he will be sorely missed.

Steve is precluded by his Mother and Father, Mary Esther and John Patrick McGowan, and his sister Patricia Crawford.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn M. McGowan, 56. His three children; Steven D. McGowan, Jr. and Kellie E. Secrist of Waldorf MD, and Dana M. McGowan of Edgewater MD. His three grandchildren; Charles H. Secrist, Zachary "Steven" Secrist, and Chelsea McGowan, and his two sisters Judith C. McGowan and Gail T. McGowan of Crofton MD, and brother David E. McGowan of FL.

A viewing for Steve will be held at Huntt Funeral Home Waldorf, Maryland on Monday July 15, 2013 from 5-8pm. The funeral service will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Waldorf, Maryland on Tuesday July 16, 2013 at 11am. Burial to follow at resurrection Cemetery Clinton, Maryland.
