Roger Lee Townsend died unexpectedly at work in Charles County, Maryland on Marach 30, 2012 at the age of 35. Roger was a resident of Waldorf. Roger held several positions with Melwood before working as grounds keeper at their camp in Nanjemoy. His duties included weed eating, mulching, trash removal and general clean up. His absolute goal was to do the best job possible and to make everyone proud of his accomplishments. His hobbies included a passion for bowling, coin collecting, yard work, fishing and helping family. One of his biggest joys was getting his pay check to buy snacks, drinks and gifts for family and friends and watching Wheel of Fortune. Roger was born on July 19, 1976 in Cheverly, Maryland. He was the son of Bradley D. Dean and Cheryl L. Dean.
Preceded in death by: grandfather Robert Lee McCraney of College Park, Maryland and grandparents Fay and Franklin Dean, Jr. of Hollywood, Maryland. Survivors include: His loving and devoted parents Cheryl and Bradley Dean, his equally loving and devoted grandmother Carolyn Woodruff, brothers Ian Ryan (Angie) Townsend and Travis Patrick Dean, uncles Pat McCraney, Roger McCraney and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends at The Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, Maryland on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm where funeral services will be at 7:00 pm. Pastor Robert Carter will officate. Donations may be made in Roger's name to the Special Olympics, 1133 19th. Street, N.W. Washington, D.C.
