Ralph “Pete” Richards, born October 4, 1927 passed away on September 16, 2023 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD. He was the son of the late Edward and Clara Richards. Ralph was born In Washington DC and lived in Waldorf, Maryland for most of his life.
Ralph is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mae Richards who passed away in 1985. Ralph is survived by his only daughter, Sharon Sammons, of Waldorf Maryland and many nieces and nephews. Ralph was the 12th of 13 children in his family. He was preceded in death by his loving sisters Emma Louise Witczak and Mae Richards. And by brothers Vincent, Walter, Raymond, Melvin and Robert.
Ralph joined the US Army March 15, 1950, where he served as a military policeman and later in his career, a mess specialist. Ralph retired from the US Army in April 1968 but continued to serve in the National Guard. After retirement, Ralph became a butcher for Safeway in Waldorf, MD.
Ralph enjoyed listening to Country Western music, some of his favorites included Ernest Tubb and Hank Williams. Ralph enjoyed an ice-cold Pepsi Cola and believed it to be the superior cola brand.
