Melody Anne was born July 31st, 1958 to parents Katherine and Daniel Warder in Washington D.C. She was the oldest of seven children and while they didn’t have much, Cheryl, Dusty, Linda, Debra, Danny and Sandy had each other. She attended Suitland High school and later worked in real estate and as a tax accountant.
Melody met her husband Jim when she and her long brown hair sashayed into Giovanni’s in Hillcrest Heights and he told himself he was going to marry her.
Melody and Jim were married June 24th, 1983.
Melody loved butterflies, the Baltimore Orioles and much to Jim’s disappointment, the Dallas Cowboys. Some of her happiest times were at country music concerts, NASCAR races, and the cross-country road trips Jim and Melody took- especially to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon.
Melody and Jim are parents to three children she leaves behind: Angela (Eric), Jason (Katie) and James. The very essence of motherhood is selflessness, and Melody sacrificed and fought for her children fiercely, showing them an example of grit and work ethic that colors their life today.
Melody is lovingly known as Nanny to her four grandchildren: Madeline, Jaiden, Paige and Jackson. They are mothered with the same fierceness and love because of the example of their grandmother.
Melody is survived by her husband Jim, three children, four grandchildren, her sisters, brothers and sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will take place Friday March 15, 2024 at 10 a.m. at New Life Church in LaPlata Maryland, to be immediately followed by service at 11 a.m. officiated by Pastor Mike Hilson.
