Joan was born at Providence Hospital, Washington, D.C. on July 21, 1942. Joan grew up in a military family. Her father was in the U.S. Navy. The family traveled to Guam Island when she was young. After Guam they came to Pax River in Lexington Park where she went to middle school and then to high school at Great Mills and graduated in 1962. Joan her sister Carol and best friends Libby, Doris, and June would go and flirt with the M.P. at the main gate at Pax River. That is where Joan met the love of her life George at Pax River Military Base. George was the M.P. at the main gate. They fell in love and got married in 1962. Then Theresa popped out in 1964. Joan became a widower in 1980. She had to raise a young teenager by herself. Joan worked at Mammoth Mart, Kings, and Ames before she retired. After retiring she became a homemaker. She loved to decorate indoors and outside.She also loved doing flower arrangements. Joan loved spending time with her daughter Theresa and her grandson Bruce.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, husband George and sister Carol. She is survived by her daughter Theresa, grandson Bruce and his Godparents Steve, and Mandy. Joan is also survived by her good friends Libby, Doris, and June.
Joan will be greatly missed.
