Jackie, Pop-Pop, Uncle Jackie, and "Jackie Wilson" as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on Earth was marked by love, compassion, laughter, music, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. Jackie ALWAYS saw the good in someone and he NEVER met a stranger!
Jackie met the love of his life, Michelle Wilson, his high school sweetheart, and the two married a few years later, building a beautiful life together and cherishing over 50 years of love and devotion. Jackie graduated from Seneca Vocational High School in 1975 and joined the U.S. Navy along with his cousin/brother Willie Mackey (Billy) and his best friend Carnell Jones. They traveled the world and were blessed to meet in different countries at the same time. After serving 23 years, Jackie retired from the U.S. Navy in 1998, having served faithfully and honorably as a Chief Machinery Repairman. Jackie went on to start a new career while working for the Department of the Army at Fort Belvoir, Vigina. He served as an Equipment Specialist, in the Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD). He retired from the Department of Army in 2022.
Jackie was a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan and had a true love for spending time with his "Friday Night Basement Crew". He was a member of the Vette Tasattic Corvette Club in Largo, Maryland, 1980 and an honorary member of the Custom Classic Corvette Club, in Chesapeake, VA.
Jackie loved the Lord and found his church home and calling at Ebenezer AME Church. He found joy serving in the Parking Ministry, by greeting members and visitors and helping with safety and security.
Jackie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Michelle Wilson; one son, Jackie Wilson (Francheska); two daughters, Jaclyn Wilson (Schommarrah); and Angel Holmes (John); daughter/niece, Krystal Dubose (Nicolas); six grandchildren, Njyia Wilson, Immanuel Wilson, Jackie Wilson, DeeAndrew Hogan, Dorchelle Holmes, and Kennedy Holmes; sisters, Maryl Lynn Gibbs (Joseph), April Davis (Tony), Corrine Anderson,and Dina Wilson; and brother, Marcus Wilson. He also leaves behind his only surviving Aunt Elizabeth (JoAnne) Jones, cousin Thomas House and Ponda "Fat Daddy" Boyton, who adored him dearly. "Uncle Jackie" leaves behind a host of nieces, mephews, and many childhood friends and family.
Jackie was preceded him in death by his oldest sister, Woodlora Wilson and brother, Donnie Wilson.
To his grandchildren, Pop-Pop is proud of "You All". Remember Jackie's special quote... "We Bend but we DON'T break". "THAT IS ALL!!"
