Betty V. Davis, 83, passed away quietly in her assisted living home in Waldorf, MD on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Betty was born on April 9, 1930 in Washington, DC to the late Annie E. and George A. Allen. She married James W. Davis on December 12, 1947 and moved to Accokeek. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother George E. Allen and sister Dorothy Rice. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Bob and MaryBeth Allen, her daughters Janet Milloff, Shelby DeRieux, and Paula Brown, grandsons Timothy and Jason Milloff, Dan and David Shepherd, 3 great grandchildren T.J. and Christopher Milloff, Ethan Shepherd, and many nieces and nephews. Betty worked at Briggs meat packing plant in the mid 1940’s until she decided to become a homemaker to be home with her children. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Accokeek, and was a long time member of the Daughter’s of America where she served in multiple positions including State Counselor. Betty was a professional cake decorator and taught classes in cake decorating, party food, and candy making. Other hobbies included crocheting and canning food. She was a Girl Scout leader for several years and was a substitute school teacher in PG County. Love by all, Betty spent her life serving others. Betty was cared for in her assisted living facility by Erlinda and Moreno Valdez, two angles on earth. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 10 at Huntt Funeral Home 3035 Old Washington Road Waldorf, MD from 4:00PM-7:00PM. Her funeral will be on 11:00AM Tuesday, March 11, also at Huntt Funeral Home. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens with the rest of her family.
