Born on November 19, 1940, in Paia, Maui, Benjamin was a proud alum of St. Anthony School, graduating with the class of ’58. He went on to pursue a fulfilling career as a dedicated plumber, his craftsmanship and work ethic were second to none.
Benjamin is survived by a loving and devoted family including his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Aganos, his children Philip Aganos, Warren (Jermaine) Aganos, Chad Aganos and Shelby Aganos, Regina Aganos (late Benjamin L Aganos Jr), siblings James (Noreen) Aganos and Gertrude Shimabuku,. He is a cherished grandfather to thirteen grandchildren: Jeremy Aganos, Warren Randles, Marissa Acidera, LeeAnne Aganos, Brock Aganos, Matt Aganos, Dalton Aganos, Jett Aganos, Chyler Aganos, Ku’umele Aganos, Misty Yokote, and Kekoa LaBang. He is also a proud great-grandfather to fourteen great-grandchildren.
Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, Bernardo and Juliana Aganos, and his beloved son Ben Aganos Jr, brothers Robert and William (Billy) Aganos.
Benjamin Aganos Sr. will be remembered for his unwavering love and dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his ability to bring a smile to the faces of those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life is arranged on December 2, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Church in Makawao. The family will gather from 8:30am to 9:00am for a private moment of remembrance. From 9am to 11am, an open viewing will be held, allowing friends and acquaintances to pay their respects, followed by mass. The final journey of Benjamin Aganos Sr. will conclude with his burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
