Wanda Jo Sawyer Price, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2103 at her home, surrounded by her family in Chilton, Texas. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor Elsa Wylie officiating. Interment will follow in Chilton Cemetery. Wanda was born on March 22, 1942 in Waco to Thurman D. and Mozelle Sawyer. Mrs. Price grew up in Waco and graduated from Waco High in 1960, she was a popular and active young girl who loved to water ski and even drag race cars. She married Stancel Price in Waco before moving to Seven Points, Texas where Stan became a Dallas fireman. Wanda raised two lovely children, Stancel Jr. and Melynda while becoming the first city secretary with the founding of Seven Points, Texas near Cedar Creek Lake, close to Dallas. She and Stan moved back to the Waco area, buying 10 acres of woodland near Chilton; where she became a Deputy Sheriff for McLennan County, a position she held until her retirement in June 2001. Mrs. Price was a loving mother, sister grandmother and aunt who cannot be replaced. Her love and support for others make her a “Most Special” person in the hearts of so many who will miss her forever. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Stanchel H. Price, and son and daughter-in law, Stanchel H. Price, Jr, and Nancy Teeter Price. Survivors include her daughter, Melynda and son-in-law, Steve Ash, brothers and their wives, Billie and Maeve Sawyer and Donald and Ingrid Sawyer, grandsons, Nicholas and Brandon Price and Kristopher Ash and granddaughters, Jordan, Kim and Kassie Ash.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Crunk, John Sawyer, Tyson Sawyer, Michael Sawyer, Nicholas Price and Brandon Price.
