Walter was born April 23, 1928, to Harvey and Rose Anna Fadal in Waco. He was the youngest of their three sons. He was educated at Dean Highland Elementary, North Junior High School and Waco High School before attending Baylor University.
Walter married the great love of his life, the former Lillian Anne Khoury, on May 25, 1952, in Shreveport, LA, and they enjoyed a wonderful, 62-year marriage.
He and his brother, Edmond, purchased White Pharmacy at 25th and Bosque in 1947 and owned and operated it until August, 1963. On October 1, 1963, he joined Texas Life Insurance Co. as an agent and enjoyed a varied and successful career there before retiring as Senior Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing in April of 1991. He was an avid fan of all Baylor sports and a longtime member of the Baylor Bear Foundation. He also was an active member of Rotary Club of Waco.
Walter was a lifelong Episcopalian and a founding member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. He and Lil have been longtime members of Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, where he served as Senior Warden, vestry member, search committee member and founder of the A-Team evangelism group. His greatest passions were his faith and his family, especially the family vacations to Hilton Head Island, SC, and Captiva Island, FL. He treasured being “Diddo” to his three grandchildren and his two great-granddaughters.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Sr. and Rose Anna Fadal; parents-in-law George Sr. and Regina Khoury; brothers, Harvey Fadal Jr. and Edmond Fadal, and sisters-in-law Frances Fadal and Marian Fadal. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lil Fadal; son Carroll Fadal and wife, Hatt of Waco; daughter Rosanne Fuller and husband, Hayes of Waco; grandchildren Kathryn Williams and husband, Noel, of Waco; Eric Fuller and wife, Brandy, of Houston; and Annie Fuller of Tampa, FL; great-granddaughters Caroline Williams of Waco and Alexandria “Lex” Fuller of Houston; sister-in-law Jeanette Khoury and brother-in-law George Khoury Jr., both of Shreveport, LA.
The family would like to express its gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at Providence Medical Center, particularly the nursing staff on the fourth floor east, for their loving care these last four weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit building fund or to the Walter and Lillian Fadal Endowed Scholarship Fund at Baylor University.
