Susan June Scoble, 60, of Houston, Texas lost her 8 1/2 year battle to cancer on December 14, 2010. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 17, 2010 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2000 Clay Avenue. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
Born in Mercedes, Texas, Susan lived many years in Waco where she both worked and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Baylor University. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Waco. Susan then moved to Houston in 2000 where she devoted her career to South Texas College of Law as a Librarian for Patron Services and received her Master’s of Library Sciences from the University of North Texas. She joined St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Houston.
Susan was preceded in death by her mother Ella Ozell and father Lawrence William Slayton.
Susan is survived by her sons, Bill Scoble and wife, Lisa, of Houston, and Brad Scoble of Ft. Worth; brother, David Slayton and wife, Kathy, of Temple; ex husband, Bud and wife, Dona; nephews, Kevin, Brian and Sean; and cousin, Delores Holick of Giddings. Susan was also a devoted grandmother of William, Abbie, and Alyssa. Susan had many dear friends in Waco and Houston and was thankful for their friendship.
The family would like to express much gratitude to Dr. Robert Wolff of MD Anderson who was the general who lead Susan in her battle against pancreatic cancer.
