Sandra Tyler Jones was born in Houston, Tx on April 13, 1955 to Lillie Mae and William Tyler. She was the youngest of five children from this union. Sandra was brought up in a Christian home and taught to put God first in all that she does. She was a loving person with a heart for giving. She was baptized at an early age by Pastor William Lott the True Light Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Tx. She later joined Pentecostal Missionary Baptist Church under Dempsey C. Jones, Sr., where she participated in Sunday school, BTU, and choir.
Sandra later relocated to Waco, Tx with her brother William Tyler and on January 24, 1993 joined Waco Sovereign Grace Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor R.G. Williams. She served as Chairperson over the Culinary Department organizing the menu and food for all events at the church. Her compassion and generosity and love of children would always be shown by her support of residents at Brazos Village that are having problems and helping wherever she can, spear-heading many events such as annual clothing giveaways, back to school giveaways and special holiday events. She was instrumental in assisting the church in obtaining a building for worship for the church and obtaining approval for the Church Daycare which was opened in 2011. In 2020 she participated in the Women’s Prayer Ministry during the pandemic which continues to this day. Sandra loved God and the church and served faithfully.
Sandra attended public schools in Houston, Texas and later attended Mclennan Community College in Waco, TX where she obtained an Associates Degree in Business Administration. Her love for business and organization and work ethics was exemplified in many years as Front-end Supervisor and Manager at Kmart and Krogers in Houston, Texas. She managed several properties in Waco including the Brazos Village Apartments which she has managed for over 23 years.
She married her childhood friend the late Dempsey P. Jones II, (Houston) and they brought up her three beautiful children whom she loved dearly, twin daughters Kristina, Raylena and one son Daniel.
She was preceded in death by her parents William C. Tyler, Lillie Mae Jones and Rev. Ernie Jones (step-father), two brothers Eddie Tyler and William C. Tyler, Jr
She leaves to mourn her two daughters Kristina Marie (Stephen), Raylena, and one son, Daniel (Carlie), her precious granddaughters Ruby Michelle and Rylee Danielle. Six siblings, Linda Jones (Sie), Shirley Brownlow, Hazel Ramsey, Cindy Tyler Williams (Tim), two brothers, Kelvin Tyler and Anthony Moore, one aunt, Helen Davis (LC) of Fort Worth, TX, her mother-in-law Myrtle Walters, one sister in law, Angela Tyler and a host of nieces, nephews ,cousins, family and friends.
