On Friday August 19th, 2022, Robert Daniel Arechiga peacefully entered the arms of God and went to be with his Lord and Savior, awaiting his homecoming were his loving wife Gloria Arechiga, his son Louis Arechiga, his parents, Daniel and Juanita Arechiga, two sisters Aurora (Bebe ) Hunt, Flora Vela and a brother Danny Arechiga
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm with rosary recited on Tuesday August 23, 2022 at 7pm at Connally Compton Funeral Directors.
A service celebrating Robert's life will be held at Connally Compton Funeral Directors on Wednesday August 24, 2022 at 1pm. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery right after.
Robert was born Jan. 19,1935 in Waco, TX. He received his education in Waco schools where he also attended McLennan Community College and T.S.T.C.
He and the former Gloria Lopez were married July 11,1953 and they were blessed with four children Louis, Liza,Margaret, and Kristen. They were the most precious part of his life here on earth and his grandchildren were his pride and joy, to them "grand-paw " was the greatest and they will never forget him or the many good times and jokes they shared with their beloved father and grandfather.
He served in the U.S. Army and The Texas National Guard for four years and was employed with the U.S. Postal Service, he began as a Postal Clerk in 1961 and he retired as a Mail Processing Tour Superintendent with thirty years of service.
Survivors include daughters Maggie Hernandez and husband Adam of Hewitt, TX. and Liza Hernandez and husband Tom of San Antonio. T, Kristen Arechiga, and daughter in law Juanita Arechiga, grandsons Eric, Louis Jr, Adan,Aram, Marcos, Esteban, grand daughter Deanna, and 6 great grandchildren children. Two sisters, Rose Reyes, Gloria Vasquez of Waco TX, sister-in-law Margaret Lopez of Aurora, Ill and brother in law Frank V. Trevino of San Antonio, TX.
A host of nephews and nieces will remember him as Uncle Nookie, he had this nickname because he was born on the same date as St. Canuto per the Catholic Almanac and a neighbor who couldn't pronounce Canuto promptly started calling him Nookie for short, and it stuck for the rest of his life by those who knew him in his young age.
Roberts’s grandsons will be pallbearers.
