Norma Jean Long, 81, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in Temple, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Homer Lee Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2010 at the funeral home.
Norma was born December 3, 1928 in Mansfield, Ohio to Harvey Emil and Lucille Berry Frisch. She graduated from Madison High School in 1946, and then on February 18, 1950, she married Earl G. Long in Mansfield, Ohio. Her adventurous spirit not only brought her to Texas, but many trips from Alaska, Ireland, Aruba, New York City, camping in Yosemite Park, and annual trips back to Mansfield, Ohio. She lived a full and wonderful life dedicated to her family and friends. But her most proud achievement that she always talked about was her grandchildren.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 54 years, Earl G. Long.
Those left behind to cherish Norma’s memory are her sons, Greg Long and wife, Connie, of Temple, Texas, Doug Long and wife, Denise, of Houston, Texas, David Long and wife, Reecie, of Odessa, Texas; sister, Shirley Vogt of Mansfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Kristi, Mandi, Katie, Brian, Mitchell, Allie; nieces, Cheryl Gilbert, Laurie Thomas; nephews, Russell Vogt, Phillip Vogt; and companion, Tommy Shivers.
