Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Lawrence Soler as Celebrant. She will be serenaded by Mariachi Azteca during the services. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. A Potluck meal will be served following the services at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce off La Salle. Everyone may bring their own favorite dish, the Hall will be open at 12p.m.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday with the Rosary Recited at 6:00 p.m. given by Father Lawrence Soler, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel.
Janie was born July 19, 1952 in Waco, Texas to Davis and Pauline (Garcia) Salazar. She attended St. Francis and St. Mary’s Catholic Schools and graduated from Reicher Catholic High School in 1970. She then attended Durhams Business School and received her degree in IBM Computer Accounting. While attending there, she met the love of her life Ernest Villarreal. They were married September of 1973. Janie loved watching football, boxing, dancing and entertaining. She was extremely grateful for her 60th birthday party where her son, Jack threw her a big birthday bash. Janie worked at Head Start EOAC then went to work for the V.A. Regional office and retired after 31 years from the V.A. Hospital of Waco. Janie suffered with a lot of health problems and was in remission from Ovarian Cancer. She fought a lot of battles along the way with a strong positive attitude. She will always be remembered by her loving heart, kindness to all and beautiful smile.
Janie is preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Ernest Villarreal and father, Davis Salazar.
She is survived by her son, Jack Davis Villarreal of Hewitt; mother, Pauline Salazar; sisters, Diana Castillo and husband Alfredo and Mary Salazar; sister-in-laws, Juanita Villarreal, Solina Romero, and Margie Balderas and husband Tommy. She is also survived by brother-in-laws, Jessie Villarreal and Marty Villarreal and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
