Josefina “Josie” Contreras Rodriguez passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 surrounded by her family. Visitation will be at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Sunday, January 31th from 6-8pm with a prayer service starting at 7pm. Memorial will be held at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Monday, February 1st at 11am, with burial to follow at Santa Cruz Cemetery in Riesel, Texas.
Josie was born May 8, 1948 in Waco, Texas to Thomas and Aurora Contreras. She had one son and four daughters; Ricky Garcia, Rachel Torres, Ruby Castillo, April Castillo, and Alexandria Castillo. Her children blessed her with 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Josie retired from Ideal Company after many years of service. She was a strong-willed woman with such a beautiful and loving personality. She truly only saw the best in people and always wanted to help in any way that she could. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially Eliana. She also enjoyed working in her yard and visiting with her family. Through her most difficult times, she placed her faith in god and continued to trust in her lord and savior.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Thomas and Aurora Contreras, two brothers Gilbert and Joe Contreras and granddaughter Selena Renee Torres.
She leaves behind her 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, lifetime friend, Alex Castillo and 8 siblings; Helen, Connie, Chris, Larry, Pauline, Janie, Thomas, and Dora.
The family would like to thank Baylor T. Boone Pickens Cancer Hospital for their care during her stay.
