After Joe joined the fitness center he came into my office to ask if it were possible to bring some to interview and film him on the track as part of his everyday life. Then he told me why. I had just read Grisham's book that included Joe's story. Then Joe shared so much more. I could see the love of Jesus sitting in front of me. He loved the Lord and was grateful for all God had done for him. That was Joe, no bitterness, just thankfulness. He was a light to his many new friends here and he is missed. But we know he is with his two top loves, his wife and the God he served.

I am a high school English teacher in Altona, Manitoba, Canada. In the week before Joe passed, I assigned the reading of the first part of  Pamela Colloff's two-part examination of Joe's story in a True Stories class. My students were captivated by his story, and shocked at the outcome...they quickly felt the injustice of what had happened. When he died, we all felt a great sense of sadness. This morning, we tuned in to the funeral livestream. Thank you for sharing Joe's life with us. It is inspiring to hear how he lived into the lives of those around him.

We both so enjoyed our talks with Joe.
We have a friend who works where Joe stayed for years  Our friend said you could tell how he loved Jesus and helped so many people during his stay there

We will surely miss him in fact a lot of people asked me if I saw him so finally Bev or Madeline  from church office called his sister in law Joretta

Joe was very special to our family.  He and his brothers helped my Dad haul hay in the summers and Joe taught me how to play the piano.   I know he is playing the piano for my Dad while he sings in Heaven.  A beautiful sound.  May Joe rest in peace.

Many prayers to the Bryan family on the passing of Joe. He was such a special man who shared his talents throughout his life. Whether it was teaching, ministering or sharing his love of music, he loved to share. I am blessed to have known him and am amazed at how he lived his life given the circumstances he faced. I can only imagine the glory as he walked through those pearly gates and was greeted by our Lord and Savior. And then he was reunited with his beloved wife and parents. Praying for peace and comfort in the coming days for his loving family.

Prayers for your wonderful family. Mr Bryan was a wonderful counselor, principal and friend.  I always loved to hear him play "He can turn the tides ". My heart hurts for all he had to go through on this earth but what a glorious reunion he must be having.
