Mommas Ending Words
Jacob loved living near the water in Portland,Texas with his girlfriend Bridget and her daughter Maddie. They lived in a quiet neighborhood about 5 minutes from the water. Now, let me share with you how awesome he was.
One story that comes to mind was when he was walking home one day, a little kitten followed Jacob home. Of course Jacob kept her to love. Luna is what they named her or "Jacob's Cat" as Bridget and Maddie would say. His love for animals was obvious. He shared a story with me one day about a turtle he spotted below on the rocks while fishing. It was tangled in fishing wire. He climbed down on the rocks and cut the turtle loose. As a mom all I could think of was him slipping and falling in the rough waters, with Jacob, courage always won.
Now I mentioned fishing. He loved to go fishing. I would say if he had his well-tuned guitar, a fishing pole while wearing his favorite pair of boots, he was a happy camper. I think he was about 22 years old when my brother gave him his first guitar. From then on, he was determined to teach himself and he did. Writing his own songs and singing to anyone that would listen. I can say this because I'm his mom, he couldn't hold a tune :) I sure did love hearing his brilliantly composed lyrics with creative notes. His faith with God helped him create beautiful songs with deep meaning. He was as simple and easy going as you can imagine only wanting the simple life, he would sometimes call me "boujee" and I'm far from that.
He bought a 2003 Jeep and pretty much rebuilt it. He was always tinkering with something and never sat still for very long. He amazed me with his ability to fix just about anything and his determination to finish no matter what, he would figure it out. I adored that about him because it came natural for him.
The bond he had with his sister was so very special. They were two of a kind. I looked forward to every moment that I spent with them together. I would laugh so hard at the both of them feeding off of each other's character. It was like having my own little comedians. Family, friends and good times were so very important to him.
I will cherish my 28 years I had with him every day. He was beautiful on the inside and out, compassionate, loving and would do anything for someone in need. My life has changed forever. He may not be with us physically but always spiritually.
When you look into your mothers' eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth. A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take. Life doesn't come with a manual; it comes with a mother.
" We are born of love: Love is our mother"
My son, you are my heart.
