Jack Madison Curry, 60, of Waco, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with the Reverend Tim Jarrell officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, May 6th at the funeral home.
Mr. Curry was born on September 25, 1953 in Big Spring, Texas to James Lloyd and Tina Louise (Hilburn) Curry. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1971. After high school, he drove a truck for a short time followed by 15 years in oilfield sales and service. He married Susan Howell on May 23, 1986 in Odessa and they celebrated almost 28 wonderful years together. In 1986, Jack decided to follow his passion to pursue a career in the funeral services business. He graduated from Dallas Institute of Funeral Service and was the recipient of the W.H. "Bill" Pierce award as the Outstanding Member of his class. He retired from Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Jack loved golf, his family and working with his hands; he could build anything, according to his son. Mr. Curry was a member of Austin Avenue United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife; Susan Curry of Waco, sons; Justin Curry of Midland and Brandon Curry and his wife, Candice of San Antonio, daughter; Jenna Smith and her husband, Heath of Georgia, sister; Jan Billings and her husband, John of Athens, grandchildren; Zach and Alex Jaggears, Stiles Parish and Madison Curry, Myleigh, Justin, Bella and James Curry, numerous nieces, nephews, family members, dear friends and Maggie.
