Ina Jo Jackson, age 86, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024 in Waco, Texas. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2024 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with Reverend Roy Marshall officiating. Internment to follow at Waco Memorial Park in Waco, Texas. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at the funeral home.
Ina was born on September 25, 1937 to John Thomas and Winnie (Craven) Bledsoe in Gunter, Texas. She graduated from Midway High School where she was a cheerleader in 1955. She married Joe Arlie Jackson on November 24, 1971 and they united their families. Ina was a member of Hewitt First Baptist Church. She owned and operated Woodway Day Care Center before going to work as a commercial underwriter for Texas Farm Bureau. After her retirement from Farm Bureau, she worked part-time at National Lloyd’s Insurance. She was also a substitute teacher and worked at Connally Compton funeral home. Ina was very nurturing and felt that working with grieving families was her ministry and calling. She loved spending time with her family and was very proud to be Granny Jo to her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She also loved to go shopping and spent many Saturdays shopping with her sister and later her daughters and granddaughters and best friend, Betty.
Ina was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Winnie Bledsoe; siblings Wilma Jean, Emily, Thomas, Godie, Sarah, and Nancy; her two sons Denny Padgett Jr and John Padgett; daughter in law Barbara Padgett; grandchildren Jenny, Jimmy and grandson-in-law Ryan; great grandchildren Shania and Bryce; and her best friend and shopping partner Betty.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Joe Arlie Jackson; sister Ducky; brother Darrell (Doris); daughters Denise, Lisa, Deanna, and Melissa; sons-in-law Steve, Don and Tony; grandchildren Debbie (Brandon), Erica, Tim (Crystal), Chris, Jay (Angie), Melissa (Mike), Cody (Natasha), Jared, Jordan (Hanna), Lacey, Christy, John Jr, Brittney (Kaelin), Kayla (Samuel), Morgan, Heath (Melissa), Emily (Michael), Kendall (David), Willow, Jackson, and Luna; great-grandchildren Sidney, LaNeisha, Noah, Jayden, TJ, Braeden, Brandon, Zachary, Sophie, Jaylyn, Cayden, Aeryn, Tyler, Jaycee, Jovee, Kyla, Skylee, Randi, Collins, Elly, Harper, Jordy, Sam, Luke, Benjamin, Archer, Haylee, Hunter, Cody, Brilee, Karsyn, Tayvin, Kynlie, Khyver, Hudson, Jett, Cayden, Teagan, Angel, and Kat; great-great-grandchildren Lenny, Violetta and Addie as well as many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
