Mrs. Jackson was born on June 25, 1927 in Groesbeck to Harvey Lee Rogers and Gladys Fay Harris Rogers. She graduated from Waco High in 1945. Mrs. Jackson was the feature twirler from 1941-1942 at East Jr. High. She was a drum major while at Waco High School. She was the state champion Baton Twirler in 1944. After high school, she worked at the 1st National Bank for 7 years. Mrs. Jackson also worked at Baylor University in the Drama Department and later in the School of Business. She also opened Gerry Jackson’s School of Baton Twirling in the 70’s. She formed the Y.W.C.A. Ettes Twirling Corp while working at the Y.W.C.A.
Gerry married Richard Jackson in 1947 and celebrated 67 wonderful years of marriage. Both were active in the church at St. John’s United Methodist and later at Central United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Jackson was loved and respected by many friends and family. She will be missed, but will live on in our hearts and memories.
Survivors include her son; Richard Lynn Jackson and his wife Rosa Pevia of Waco and granddaughter; Jami Lyn Jackson.
