Elojio H. "Lloyd" Vela

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00p.m., Monday, August 22, at St. Louis Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00p.m., Sunday, August 21, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors.

Lloyd was born September 12, 1935 in Reagan, Texas to Jesus and Patricia Vela. He worked for General Tire for 37 years. He owned many businesses including many properties and Vela’s Bar. He was a longtime member of St. Louis Catholic Church.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Teresa; son, Johnny and 7 siblings.

Survivors include his sister, Modesta Segovia; daughters, Yolanda Zuniga and husband Mario, Christine Vela, Cynthia Pascoe and husband Willie, and son, Vincent Vela; daughters, Kayla Steckel and husband David, Tiffani Vela; son, Jonathan Vela and their mother Denise Vela. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Ricky Ramon, Mario Zuniga, Marcos Pascoe, Michael Vela, Vincent Benavidez, and David Steckel. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Alvarez and Jason Ramon.

The Vela family expresses their gratitude to the nursing staff at Providence and St. Catherine’s Hospice for the excellent care given to Lloyd during his illness.
