Ellie was born at home on March 19, 1926 in the Prairie Hill area and lived in Texas most of her life. She married Bill Lamb after he returned from WWII and moved to California where their first child, Joyce, was born. They moved back to Waco where their twins, Ronnie and Donnie were born 18 months later. One special skill she had was turning cartwheels which she demonstrated in many home movies to her children, who could never come close to her level.
As a cop's wife, she followed Bill to his assignments as a Texas DPS Officer to Hamilton, Gatesville, Ennis and back to Waco toward the end of Bill's career. After Bill retired, Ellie hopped on the back of the motorcycle with him and they had a great time riding all over the country.
Before her health failed, Ellie was a dedicated member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church. She cooked many meals and served as the "picture taker" as she never saw herself as a photographer. She was actually a historian since she prepared over 20 albums of events, few with her own picture since she was behind the camera.
After Bill's death, Ellie made her wishes known to live in her home for the rest of her days, and she did with the caregiving of family. She had her walls and tables lined with pictures of her family, right along with Vince Gill, and delighted in showing every visitor every picture as if they had never seen them before. She also gave a walk through her collection of hundreds of angels given to her by many friends and family.
In her later years, with failing hearing and sight, she still read her books and her Bible every night and watched her westerns during the day. Although the TV looked dim to her, she shared with anyone she could capture to watch with her something about the characters and the plots since she almost had them memorized.
Ellie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Lamb, son, Donnie Lamb, sister Dorothy Dwyer and her parents. Survivors include Joyce Miller and husband Jim, Ronnie Lamb and wife Jocelyn, grandchildren Kyle Miller and wife Allyson, Eric Miller, Micah Lamb and wife Stephanie, Joshua Lamb and wife Melissa, Crystal Thompson and husband Glenn, and great grandchildren Gracie Miller, Luke Miller, Abby Eastridge, Jacob Eastridge, Kaitlyn Lamb, Noah Lamb, Caleb Lamb, Hunter Lamb, and John Thompson.
Ellie was ready for her heavenly home and now she can see and hear all the wonders as she turns cartwheels with the angels. She ended every conversation with, "God Bless You and I love you very much; give everyone and big 'ol hug for me".
