Edmund (E.B.) Hooper, 98 of Woodway, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 in Woodway. Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022 at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco with Reverend Mark Wible officiating. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022 at the funeral home.
E. B. was born on May 25, 1924 to Fred and Addie May (Griffin) Hooper in Woodbury, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Waco before moving to Woodway. E. B. married the love of his life, Ludelle McKinney on June 17, 1957 in Gatesville, Texas. She preceded him in death in 2005. He served his county during WW2, Edmund served in the Navy Amphibious, being a part of the attack transport (ships that carried the Marines or soldiers to land). He saw action at Guam, the Philippines, and the battle for Okinawa. Edmund Bernarr was named after Bernarr McFadden, the Strong Man. Edmund was a mild mannered, good man, generous to a fault and always willing to lend a helping hand.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, James Hooper; sisters, Dorothy Pattison, Olive Howard, and Becky Brown.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Hooper of Fort Worth; sister, Addie Ruth Prince of Dallas, and brother, Frank Hooper. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Highland Baptist Church, American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
