Clyde W. McCauley, 87, of Waco, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 in a local nursing home. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Woodway United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dawn Gilliland officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time.
Mr. McCauley was born on October 30, 1927 in Hillsboro, Texas to John David and Nina Mae (Jackson) McCauley. He served his country in the United States Navy. He married Minta Sherrill on December 18, 1948 in Mart and they celebrated over 66 wonderful years together. Mr. McCauley owned and operated Texaco Service stations for over 32 years. He was an avid golfer and made 7 hole in one’s and was an Excellent Bridge player. Mr. McCauley was a member of Woodway United Methodist Church since 1964. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother; Claude McCauley, sisters-in-law; Julianne McCauley and Linda Sherrill and a nephew; Steven Sherrill.
Survivors include his wife; Minta McCauley of Waco, daughter; Sherrill Ashby and her husband, Jim of Hewitt, granddaughter; Krystal Shoults of Waco, great grandchildren; Kyle Shoults, Brandon Shoults, Makaley Shoults and Laney Vanek all of Waco, brother; Don McCauley and his wife, Mary of Hewitt, brother-in-law; Willard Sherrill and his wife, Marie of Hewitt, sister-in-law; Jeanette McCauley of Woodway and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Timothy Martindale, Dr. Donnie Stewart, Dr. Tom Lundeen and to all the staff at Royal Manor for the love and care that they provided to Mr. McCauley.
