Alice Pietzsch Steele, age 96, died August 30, 2011 at the Courtyard in Hewitt. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor Paul Krupicka officiating and burial to follow in Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
Alice was the daughter of the late Edward O. and Selma Rabbe Pietzsch. She was born on Nov. 5th, 1914 in Crawford, Texas. She and her husband, Wallace Steele lived on the farm near Taft, Texas until his passing in 1973. She then moved to San Antonio where she lived for 35 years. She moved to Hewitt 5 years ago to be near family. Alice loved to travel and during those years she traveled all over the United States and many foreign countries. She was a longtime and active member of Christ Lutheran Church in San Antonio. When she moved to Hewitt she became a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Waco.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Steele; twin sister, Agnes O. Graham, sister, Aster (Nook) Johnson; brothers, Robert “Sonny” Pietzsch and Angus “Buddy” Pietzsch.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Elsie Pietzsch of Waco; nieces, Patsy Quinones and husband, Sam, Brenda Crye and husband, Daylon, Diane Jones and husband, Bill,
Sandra Colby; nephews, Bobby Chapman and wife, Eula Jean, Freddy Pietzsch and wife, Carolyn, Robert Pietzsch and wife, Colette; numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
The family would like to thank The Courtyard at Hewitt and Providence Hospice for the love and care they gave Alice. She was a loving and caring sister-in-law, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
