It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruth Ann McIntyre Kelly, who passed away peacefully on February 27, 2023. A devoted Christian, the family is comforted with the knowledge that Ruth Ann is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
Ruth Ann was born on December 19, 1938 in Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania, to Charles William McIntyre and Alda Towle McIntyre. She grew up in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, attending local schools and eventually earning a diploma in nursing from Latrobe Hospital. Ruth Ann dedicated her life to nursing, spending many years as a Registered Nurse in various healthcare settings including care of newborns and the elderly. Her passion for healthcare and love of helping others touched the lives of countless patients over the years, and she will always be remembered as a caring and dedicated nurse who made a positive impact on the world.
In 1960, Ruth Ann married the love of her life, Richard Melvin Kelly, and together they lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida and South Carolina, all while raising their three children, Richard Charles Kelly (Tena), Sue Kelly Honeycutt (Lin), and Scott Alan Kelly (Amanda). Ruth Ann was a devoted mother, always putting her children's needs above her own. She cherished her role as a grandmother, and her nine grandchildren brought her endless joy and happiness.
Ruth Ann will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, generosity, and loving spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard; her children, Rick, Sue, and Scott; daughters-in-law, Rhonda and Amanda; and her grandchildren, Lizzie and Judah. She is survived by her grandchildren, David, Ryan, Jeremy, Justin, Charles, Rebecca and Jared. She is also survived by her siblings, Elaine Duncan of Clarksburg, Pennsylvania, Eileen Marshall of Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, and Jeanette Copithke of Suwanee, Georgia, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Southland Memorial Gardens in the Chapel of Hope, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM in the chapel.
