Robert “Rod” William Dinkins, Jr., 54, was born September 10, 1965 in Columbia, SC and passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 after a valiant 14-month battle with cancer. He was the only son of Nealer and Robert W. Dinkins, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 7 years, Shannon, of West Columbia. He was the proud father of Kali Smith (Eric) and Savannah Brazell. His two granddaughters, Kaydence and Kennedy were the center of his world. A lifetime of love and guidance from his parents as well as his five sisters (Nancy McRoy, Dottie Garner, Pat Keaton, Diane Howard and Sheila Beck) helped him become the man he was. He also leaves behind a host of brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews all of whom he loved very much.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. The family encourages everyone to wear Gamecock colors in honor of his love for the team. In celebration of his life, family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Columbia First Church of the Nazarene.
