Rick grew up in the Florence/Horry area working on farms with his family. Farm work brought them to the Gilbert area, and he lived his adult life in Lexington County. No stranger to hard work, Rick worked for many years be it farming, driving trucks, home improvement, or at Michelin where he helped to build the Lexington plant. Rick retired from Michelin after 28 years in 2007 and enjoyed time with his wife, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
If you were to stop by it would be no surprise to find Rick in his workshop making a piece of furniture or working on an appliance that needed fixing. Known for his meticulous work, he could fix anything and prided himself on doing it right because that was the right thing to do and would “be there long after he was gone”. If he was indoors, you may find him watching NASCAR or any variety of Gamecock sports. We will all miss calling on our husband, father, and grandpa for advice and guidance. He also showed his love by asking when we had our oil changed last, how the tread was on our tires, and if we were saving our money.
Rick was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Shirley Addy; his brother, Ronnie Stalvey; and his son, Nicky Stalvey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Deborah (Debbie) Stalvey; brother, Charles Stalvey (Brenda); his children, Tammy Fallaw (Mike), Heather Pagon (Chris) and Tyler Stalvey (Lauren); stepsons, Tony Wood and Mark Moore; his grandchildren, London Fallaw, Daniel Stalvey (Lyndsey), Cody Fallaw (Ashleigh), Sophie Jones (Noah), Tristan Stalvey, Anna Grace Stalvey, and Rowe Stalvey; his great-grandchildren, Ashton and Emma Fallaw, and Noah and Ella Stalvey; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A Memorial Service for Rick will be held on Wednesday, January 18, at 2:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 820 W. Dunbar Rd., West Columbia, SC 29170. Rev. Mickey Stalvey will be officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel.
