Mae Stabler Johnson, 100, of West Columbia, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 9, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born on December 12, 1923 in Sandy Run, SC. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Franklin Stabler and Allie Pearl Stabler (Wolfe), and wife of the late Charles Ray Johnson.
Mae loved life and never met a stranger. Those who were blessed to know her, loved her!
She was an active member of Green Hill Baptist Church and loved God with all her heart. She was a devoted wife and loved and cared for her family. Mae met Charles while selling tickets at the Fox Theater, then worked as a bookkeeper for Bridges Furniture before moving on to the Loxcreen Company, where she worked in payroll until retiring after more than 45 years!
Mae celebrated her 100th birthday on December 12, 2023 surrounded by so many family members and friends! She was something to celebrate!
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda McKinney of West Columbia, and Susan Murphy (John) of Grayson, GA; grandchildren: Amy Hanson (Todd), Brandon McKinney (Stacy), Bryan McKinney, Neal Murphy (Allison), and Keri Tiller (Zack); and great-grandchildren: Dylan Hanson, Katherine Hanson, Noah Hanson, Braxton McKinney, Tyler McKinney, Addison McKinney, Laryn Murphy, Sutton Tiller, and Hayes Tiller.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. Visitation will be at 2:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM. Burial will take place immediately afterwards at Southland Memorial Gardens.
