Born on October 8, 1937, Lois was the devoted wife for 73 years to the late James Reid Baughman Sr. and a caring mother to her son, James Reid Baughman Jr. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Edgerton and Estelle Joyner Sharpe, Sr. She was a meat wrapper for A&P and Piggly Wiggly for 40 years.
Jean was a woman of great compassion, known for her kindness, generosity, and selflessness. She poured love into every aspect of her life, especially in her role as a mother and grandmother. She delighted in spoiling her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always offering support, warmth, and encouragement.
Jean will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Her legacy of love and devotion will forever be cherished by her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, James Reid Baughman Jr.; grandchildren, Chris (Diana) Baughman, Reid Baughman III, and Lindy (Robert) Fulmer; one Step sister, Thelma (David) Patton; and great-grandchildren, Delilah G. Baughman, Jazmin K. Baughman, Wyatt Baughman, Felicity Baughman, and Kalia B. Baughman.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a daughter, Annie Jean, Baughman; Brother & Sister-in-laws, Clarence (Dorothy) Sharpe, Jr., James D. (Joyce) Sharpe, Bobby (Janet) Sharpe: Sisters and brother-in-law’s, Mary (Robert) Outlaw and Frances (Luther) Vinson; Step brothers and wives Charles (Wanda) Sharpe, Alton (Jackie) Sharpe, Robert (Donna) Sharpe and Herbert Sharpe.
A graveside service in honor of Jean will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 11:00 AM at Crescent Hill Cemetery.
Jean’s gentle spirit, love, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
