Linda Kay Snelling, 71, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 after a fiercely fought battle with cancer. She was born February 7, 1951 in Greenwood, SC. She was the eldest daughter of the late Emma Mckee Allen and the late Robert Edward Allen.
She graduated from Greenwood High and attended the University of South Carolina and Midlands Technical College.
She is survived by her children, Mike (spouse, Tracey) Snelling of Rock Hill, Tyler (spouse, Stephanie) Snelling of Gaston, Brandy (spouse, Bryan) Davis of Charleston, Caspar Snelling (Allison Dennis) of Lexington. She was blessed with twelve grandchildren, Tori (spouse, Cole) Matthews, Katy Snelling, Seth (spouse, Becca) Snelling, Caleb Snelling, Shelby Snelling, Scarlett Snelling, Rusty Bruce, Lexi Bruce, Nicholas Zimmerman, Bryan “Tank” Davis, Logan Snelling and Bri Davis. Known as “Mama Kay” to all her grands, she loved her family and was very proud of each and every one of them.
One of seven children, her brothers and sisters include Barry (Cheryl) Allen, Tommy (Rena) Allen, Jean (Billy) Ellison, Billy Allen, Ann (Keith) Landis and Pam Allen (deceased).
She enjoyed family, reading, crossword puzzles, crafts, crocheting, the Carolina Gamecocks, and all things science fiction. She touched many lives and brought much joy as a devoted preschool teacher.
Ms. Snelling was predeceased by her mother, Emma “MaEm” Allen; her father, Robert Allen and her sister and best friend, Pam.
The family will receive friends at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel on Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 3, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with interment to follow at Southland Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
