Judy, known as Ms. Judy to most, was known for her love of cooking and baking for family and friends. The kitchen was her happy place. Her specialties were her famous fried chicken and her six-layer chocolate cake. Her favorite vacations were spent with family at Holden Beach, North Carolina. She also enjoyed reading, surf fishing at the beach, watching birds from her kitchen window and her Wal-Mart outings. She never met a romance novel or stick of butter that she didn’t like.
Judy was born in Columbia, South Carolina to William Esli and Lola Faye Lowrance on August 8, 1945. She was a graduate of Dreher High School.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Murdock; daughters, JoJo Grant (Mike), Lisa Harrington (Clint), and Beth Cunningham; stepdaughter, Zan Eaddy (Paul) and stepson, Law Murdock (Mary Dawn); brother, Bobby Russell (Charlene); grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan, Kristen, Chloe’, Hunter, and Lily; step grandchildren, Anna, Mills, Watts, DuPre, Sarah Harper, and Lawton Jr.; great grandchildren, Claire, Kyra, Ava, Kali, and Camille. She was predeceased by her sister, Suzanne Tuck.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home. The burial will take place at 3:00 pm at Woodridge Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
