He is survived by his children, Bobby Glass, Terry (Cathy) Glass, Cheryl (Kevin) Prosser, Willie (Kay) Glass, Bryan (Kristie) Spires, Randy Spires, and Juanita (Johnny) Brehm along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Lorretta W. Spires; his son, Joseph Nathaniel Spires, Jr.; a daughter, Cynthia Spires Ruonavaara and two brothers, Melvin Branham and Maverick Branham.
Mr. Spires served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from Alltel Phone Company in Lexington after 35 years. He was active in the community and his church, Life Springs Worship Center, where he worked in the Men’s Ministries, FCA, and Kids Camp. He coached Pee Wee League baseball, loved to fish, hunt and play golf. He was a big John Wayne fan and loved watching westerns.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with interment to follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
